25 years ago, Copenhagen Bakery made its debut in Northport, NY. The only Scandinavian bakery on Long Island is owner operated by Flemming Hansen. At the age of 16 in Ørbæk, Denmark, Flemming began his career as an apprentice at a local bakery. In 1985, after three years as an apprentice, he moved to Solvang, California where he worked as an exchange student. In 1998, he moved to New York with his family and Copenhagen was launched.
Over the years Copenhagen Bakery has grown steadily from a small waterfront business to a bustling Café that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We are open 7 days a week, and serve breakfast and lunch daily until 2pm. Some of our menu items include homemade soups, sandwiches, salads, quiches and more. At Copenhagen we prepare everything daily with no preservatives or fillers. Some bakery items even include ingredients imported from Denmark to provide true Danish flavor.
Flemming is proud to employ over 40 employees from numerous countries. In gratitude to the community that has supported this business for 25 years, Flemming gives back in the form of generous donations to a wide variety of charities and schools. The coffee is always fresh and the staff is always welcoming. Come on in and say hello!
